On 8th of July, the Working Group for the Reform of the System of State Funding of CSOs and the Working Group for revision of the Law on Associations and Foundations held a joint meeting to discuss the Roadmap of activities for the reform of the system of State funding of CSOs. The aim was to ensure coordination between the two Working Groups and better sequencing of the activities to achieve the objectives set in the Government Strategy for cooperation with CSOs and its Action Plan.
The meeting was co-organised with the Technical Assistance Project “Technical assistance for improving the enabling environment for Civil Society Organisations in the Republic of North Macedonia”, funded by the European Union. The TA Project experts presented the Roadmap which encompasses the drafting and adoption of legal changes for the implementation of the reform of the system of State funding of CSOs, the finalisation of internal acts and procedures for the establishment of the Fund for support to civil society development, the recruitment and capacity development for the staff and the development of the Manual for the implementation of new by-laws on standards and procedures of public funding of CSOs.
The discussion focused on the preconditions for the implementation of the Roadmap. Crucial activities were defined and timelines were agreed upon. The Working Groups will be meeting separately during August while the practice of close coordination through joint meetings will be maintained with another joint meeting foreseen at the beginning of September.
